Covid-19 Vaccines: Airport Operations, Air Traffic Control & Airspace Management
Through the continuous efforts of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Air Traffic Control/Airspace Management – The FAA will track, prioritise, and coordinate vaccine flights throughout the U.S. national airspace, as necessary. The Administrator has also established processes which supports, monitor and report information about the movement of vaccine(s) by Air Transport.
Airport Operations – Operational guidance to United States Airports was provided on 11th December 2021 on operational considerations during vaccine transportation by air, including coordination with local, state, and federal government agencies on security and inspections; airport capacity and design capabilities; evaluation of current Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting coverage at primary and divert airports; and vehicle and pedestrian operations.
FAA regulations at 14 CFR § 25.831 state that carbon dioxide concentration during flight must be shown not to exceed 0.5 percent (5000 ppm) by volume (sea level equivalent) in compartments normally occupied by passengers or crew.
